Presidential Ambassadors

The Presidential Ambassadors Program provides opportunities for a select group of students chosen for their enthusiasm, academic excellence, and college engagement to represent and promote Randolph College in partnership with the Office of the President.

These students host important college guests and represent the College at prestigious campus and community events.

Students selected for this honor meet and network with alumni, community leaders, business executives, and other friends of the College at these functions, promoting Randolph’s mission, vision, values, and traditions.

Benefits

A few of the benefits of being a Presidential Ambassador include:

Attend bi-monthly mentorship meetings with President Sue Ott Rowlands
Participate in the Presidential Ambassadors off-campus retreat focused on leadership development
Network with faculty, staff, alumni, community leaders, and friends of the College at high-profile, on- and off-campus events throughout the year
Build social skills, practice business etiquette, take advantage of leadership opportunities, and serve as an official College representative
Develop meaningful connections with College staff, faculty, and administrators who will serve as employment references for internships and job interviews
Students who exceed performance expectations may receive a letter of recommendation from Randolph College President Sue Ott Rowlands
Attend the Presidential Ambassador Appreciation Dinner, annually in the spring
Receive Randolph College Presidential Ambassador attire for personal use when representing the College

Qualifications

In order to be considered for a Presidential Ambassador position, each student must either be a current Presidential Scholar* or meet the following qualifications:

Enrolled full-time
Maintain a 3.0 minimum GPA
Be in good academic and social standing

*Presidential Scholars have already completed an interview process and are considered Presidential Ambassadors as part of their scholarship acceptance.

Responsibilities

Presidential Ambassadors are committed to fulfill the following responsibilities on a volunteer basis for the term of one academic year:

Participate in bi-monthly mentorship meetings with President Sue Ott Rowlands
Attend the President Ambassadors off-campus retreat focused on leadership development
Serve as a liaison to the President on key student issues
Volunteer for at least two College events each semester, serving as a host, guide, greeter, or usher
Participate in at least one service event per academic year
Serve as an ad hoc focus group for campus leadership as needed

Mandatory Events

Attendance is required at events on the following dates:

October 30, 2024, Wednesday, 5–7 p.m.
January 15, 2025, Wednesday, 9 a.m.–4 p.m.
March 19, 2025, Wednesday, 11 a.m.–1 p.m.
April 28, 2025, Monday, 6-8 p.m.

Are you interested in becoming a Presidential Ambassador?

Eligibility requirements: Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and be in good academic and social standing with the College.

In order to receive an invitation to join the Presidential Ambassadors, candidates must complete an application and interview. If selected to interview, an email will be sent to a students’ Randolph address.

The application process opens prior to the start of the academic year. Interviews take place during September after which successful candidates receive a formal invitation to join the Presidential Ambassadors.
